Spotify Glass Art on Shadow Box

Have you seen the neat music codes from Spotify music used on the glass plaques?

It took me a while to realize what that is, and what a great gift idea this could be!

Music often brings us back to a moment when you share meaningful life events. With these codes, you can give a gift with your favorite music to someone special.

I will show you how to make not just a glass plaque, but a shadow box with paper flowers tacked inside this special gift.

Step 1: Get a Spotify Code for Your Song

First, got to Spotify.com

Find your song.

Then, copy the URL.

Go to Spotifycodes.com

Paste the code onto the designated area.

Click “Get Spotify Codes.”

Then, download the code onto your device.

Step 2: Make a SVG file using Adobe Illustrator

I know that not everyone uses Adobe Illustrator. But it is one of the easiest and coolest design tools around!

You can download a trial version and test it out!

Basically, what you have to do to make an SVG file is to transform a raster base png file into a vector base image.

In order to do that, you just have to run Image Trace on Illustrator.

Watch my video for more details!

Step 3: DIY Shadow Box with Paper Flowers

I’m making an 8×10 shadow box for this tutorial. You can change the size of the frame, however, it will also change the number of flowers you will need.
This roll-up flower template is 3.5 inches in diameter. It will make a 1.5-inch flower.

Step 4: Cut Spotify Codes using Cricut Machine

Now that you have an SVG file of your song, all you need to do is to cut the image using the Cricut machine.
• Turn on your Cricut machine.
• Connect your Cricut to your computer.
• Open Cricut Design Space.
• Start a New Project.
Upload a file.
• Choose your file from your computer.
Insert the image onto Cricut Design Space.
• Position the image where you’d like it, then Attach the image.
• Load your vinyl into your Cricut.
• Set the right material setting.
Make it.
• Press the “Go” button.
Sit back and wait!

Step 5: Spotify Glass Art on Shadow Box with Paper Flowers

The easy part is done!
Warning!
The small numbers in the image may not cut well, or get lost between the process of transferring the image. If you want to keep the number as a part of the design, you may need to consider adjusting the size of the numbers. I kept the numbers for the first one, but needed to draw some of them with white paint marker.

Also, don’t forget to test the code before applying it to the shadow box.

I made this mistake while making this tutorial. For some reason, the code didn’t work! Then, I had to redo it all over again! Hope you won’t have to go through the same mistake I made!

If you’d like, you can add a picture. It will make a great gift.

I love the color yellow. Just for fun, I made it in different colors. It’s fun to make one with gradation like this one!
